2026 Cottonwood Fire, UT
(315 photos)
The Cottonwood Fire burned 97,464 acres in Piute and Beaver Counties, Utah, in June and July, 2026. It started June 22 from an undetermined cause, spreading 10,000 acres the first day, destroying about 150 structures. It was the 6th largest fire in Utah's history. Flooding from the burn scar also caused significant damage to surrounding areas of Cottonwood Canyon. I was a PIOC on the incident for two weeks gathering visual content depicting the invaluable work of firefighters, working with the IMT and local/national media to tell the story.
