2023 Lookout Fire, Oregon

The Lookout Fire started by lightning near McKenzie Bridge in the Willamette National Forest on August 5, 2023, growing to 25,754 acres in the end. More than 1,000 personnel were assigned to the fire at one time. I served as public information officer at the fire with a Type 3 and then a Type 2 IMT. During this assignment,
I photographed a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Coordinated Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Module at work on firing operations.

I returned to the Lookout Fire in late September with a USFS - Coordinated UAS Module to document their operations, including training, instruction, and many Infrared (IR) missions. Burning operations (Very Pistols and Drip Torch) pictured were conducted by the local Mackenzie River Fire Crew.
