I began fighting wildfires in 1988 during college in San Luis Obispo, California. I worked four seasons with Los Padres Santa Lucia Crew III - a type-2 hand crew led by experience and fueled with high spirits.
I earned a news-editorial journalism degree from Cal Poly in 1991, then spent three seasons with the Los Padres Hot Shots from 1993 to 1995. The LP has remained a truly great hot shot crew throughout it's long history.
I joined the Alaska Smokejumpers in 1996, jumping 14 seasons. The Alaska crew is as unique as it is experienced.
Photography promotes understanding and appreciation of wildland firefighting. Thanks to my family, friends, and peers for their support. For questions, comments, or photo use inquiries, please contact me.
