2006 ARMY FIRING RANGE - WILDFIRE ABATEMENT
In May of 2006 the Alaska Smokejumpers assisted the U.S. Army during training maneuvers at Ft. Greely, where troops endure winter months as they prepare for deployment. As their tracers sparked flames in tall dead grass, we made the range smoke-free again. This meant burning off large acreage to prevent repeated interruptions in training. We were proud to meet these brave soldiers, hear their stories, and wish them good fortune in their service to our country.
