At left: Rookie candidates practice parachute landing falls (PLFs) during a units test. Above center: trainers review notes, comparing observations of candidates. The units test is where candidates demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in basic, interdependent skills - jumpsuit and equipment handling, simulated airplane exits, parachute malfunction procedures, tree let down manouvers and parachute landing falls. Tests are timed, performance is scrutinized before candidates make their first training jump. Above right: back to the pull up bars. |
