| This is a composite of two images. Capturing the vantage of a smokejumper flying to a wildfire presents technical challenges. I had this image in my mind as our jumpship approached this Wyoming wildfire in 2001. As we circled, I shot a vertical image of the fire from my window seat - image #1. When we jumped further upwind of the fire, I grabbed a camera from my leg pocket, following my jump partner long enough to shoot a vertical image of him with a smokey backdrop - image #2. Both slides were scanned separately, and simply overlayed in Photoshop. Is it real? I think it represents well what smokejumpers do, in one image. MM | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
