Wildland fire engines bring manpower and water to the firelines. Crews of 4 to 6 people team up to attack flames in difficult terrain, deploying miles of hose and pushing thousands of gallons of water up steep slopes. Engine crews also carry hand-tools and firing devices, building fireline and conducting burning operations when needed.
