Today Craig is the primary lookout in California's Modoc National Forest at the Timber Mountain Lookout. His wife Wendy also serves as a Timber Mountain Lookout. Built in 1966, the tower stands 30-feet tall at 5090-feet elevation. Perched between Medicine Lake Volcano and the Warner Mountains, the Timber Mountain Lookouts call in about 25 fires annually, mostly lighning-caused.
